Writer's body brought to Pudukottai

PUDUKOTTAI, APRIL 24 . A noted short story writer, poet and vice-president of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers' Association, G. Nagalingam, popularly known as Gandarvan, passed away at Chennai on Thursday. He was 59.

Gandarvan had authored five short story collections and three collections of poetry.

His short stories have been prescribed as non-detailed lessons in some universities in the State. He also presented papers on short stories in the seminars conducted by the Sahitya Akademy.

Gandarvan was a former employee of the Treasury Department and held the post of the state president of the Treasury Department Employees Association.

His body was brought here yesterday for final rites. He is survived by wife and two daughters.
