What's in a name?

Sir, — Why is the Rajasekhara Reddy Government hell-bent on naming the international airport at Hyderabad after Rajiv Gandhi? Is Andhra Pradesh short of distinguished people who made significant contribution to the country? To name only two, there was Tanguturi Prakasam who became the first Chief Minister after the State's formation. P.V. Narasimha Rao was the first man from the State to become the Prime Minister. Can the new airport not be named after one of them? When the Congress is in power, all the projects and schemes are named only after the Nehru-Gandhi family members.

Sir, — It is amazing to see Chandrababu Naidu making out a strong case for naming the Hyderabad international airport after N.T. Rama Rao. It was Mr. Naidu who staged a coup against NTR and captured the party from the ailing leader.

Sir, — Dumping leaders when they are alive and glorifying them after they are dead seem to be an affliction of all political parties. Are there not other urgent issues to worry about in the State?
