Isolated rain likely

in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI AUG. 21. Southwest monsoon has been active over Telangana. Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Karnataka, at many places over Telangana and at a few places over south interior Karnataka and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka, Kerala and Rayalaseema and mainly dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep.

Perur (Khammam dt.) and Etrunagaram (Warangal dt.) recorded a heavy rainfall of 9 and 8 cms respectively.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms are: Kunavaram (Khammam dt.) and Agumbe 5 each, Paravathipuram (Vizianagaram dt.), Kaleswaram (Karimnagar dt.), Dummagudem (Khammam dt.), and Shirali 4 each. Nizamabad, Koida (Khammam dt.), Rajahmundry (East Godavari dt.) Dharmasthala (Dakshina Kannada dt.), Karkala (Udupi dt.), Joida (Uttara Kannada dt.), and Talaguppa (Shimoga dt.) 3 each, Dowlaiswaram (East Godavari dt.), Bhadrachalam (Khammam dt.), Belthangady (Dakshina Kannada dt.), Kundapura and Kota (both Uduip dt.), Honavar and Siddapura and Sirsi (both Uttrara Kannada dt.) 2 each and Melur (Madurai dt.), Sivagangai, Medak, Kakinada, Salur (Vizianagaram dt.), Srisailam (Krishna dt.), Mangalore Airport, Jagalpet, Gokarna and Manchikere (all Uttara Kannada dt.), Khanapur and Londa (both Belgaum dt.), Bangalore, Hosadurga (Chitradurga dt.), and Shikaripura (Shimoga dt.) 1 each.

FORECAST (valid until Monday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over coastal Karnataka, north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and at a few places over Kerala, Lakshadweep and south interior Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, North Interior Karnataka, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
