Rain likely in south Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Northeast monsoon has been vigorous over Kerala.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala and at many places over Lakshadweep. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu. Dry weather prevailed over Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in centimetres:

Thiruvananthapuram 10, Kottayam 9 and Senkottai (Tirunelveli dt.) 7.

The minimum temperature fell appreciably at one or two places over north Tamil Nadu, rose appreciably at one or two places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh, rose at one or two places over north interior Karnataka and changed little elsewhere over the region.

They were appreciably to markedly below normal at a few places over Karnataka, at one or two places over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and below normal at one or two places over rest Tamil Nadu, rest coastal Andhra Pradesh and rest Telangana and were generally normal over the rest of the region.

Forecast (valid until Wednesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Kerala and at a few places over south Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over north Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Farmers weather bulletin for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Forecast (valid until Wednesday morning): Light to moderate rain is likely to occur over Ramanathapuram, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Theni, Sivagangai, Virudhunagar and Dindugal districts of south Tamil Nadu. Isolated light to moderate rain is also likely to occur over the remaining districts of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
