CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Telangana and Kerala, at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Coastal Karnataka and at a few places over Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and North Interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep.

The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in centimetres:

Yellandu (Khammam dt.) 13, Thrithala (Palakkad dt.) 11, Khammam and Madhira (Khammam dt.) 10 each, Valparai, Perur and Dummagudem (Khammam dt.) 8 each.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeters are:

Dowlaiswaram (East Godavari dt.), Piduguralla (Guntur dt.), Sriramsagar (Nizambad dt.), Kaleshwaram (Karimnagar dt.), Eturnagaram (Warangal dt.), Kothagudem, Hyderabad Airport and Madikeri 6 each, Rajamundry (East Godavari dt.), Nandigama, Tiruvalla (Pathanamthitta dt.) and Subramanya (Dakshina Kannada dt.) 5 each.

FORECAST (valid until Monday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, at many places over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka and at a few places over Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
