Voters' list to be published on September 15

SALEM: The final rolls of the intense verification of electoral rolls in the areas of Salem Corporation limit falling under the jurisdiction of Salem I, Salem II, Panamarathupatti and Veerapandi Assemblies, will be published on September 15 instead of August 31.

A press release from the Collector, who is also the District Election Officer, said the Salem Corporation had been undertaking the intense revision of rolls in these areas with the base date as Janury 1, 2005.

A door-to-door revision had been initiated in the households of the urban voters of the Salem Corporation who fall under the four Assembly segments.

Accordingly the authorities were being engaged in feeding the details of electorate in computers from April 26 to July 10.

With the works nearing an end, the administration had decided to publish the draft rolls on July 20 instead of the earlier scheduled date of July 11.

The administration would also conduct awareness meetings for the members of the village `grama sabhas' and various residential associations. The draft rolls would be read out in these meetings to be organised now between July 20 and August 5 instead of July 11 to July 31.

Last date extended

The last date for the finalisation of applications on addition, deletion and correction in the rolls would be extended up to August 25 while the supplementary rolls would be printed on September 5 instead of the earlier deadline of August 20.

The final rolls would now be released on September 15 instead of the earlier date of August 31. The Collector asked the voters to file their applications for addition, deletion and correction in the rolls between July 11 and July 31.

Applications

The filled-in applications could be handed over to Corporation Commissioner, Salem Revenue Divisional Officer, Salem Tahsildhar, Vazhapadi Tahsildhar.

It can be given to the officials concerned in the polling booths and post offices of respective areas too.
