KADAPA: Village Development Officers will go on a State-wide strike if the Government did not ensure payment of salaries of ZP, mandal parishad class IV employees under 010 head of account, VDOs Association State President Vithal Reddy warned on Thursday.

Eight-year-long agitation waged by employees led to issue of several G.O.s, but they were not receiving salaries properly due to laxity of the Finance Department, Mr. Reddy alleged after inaugurating a relay hunger strike camp of Panchayat Raj Ministerial and Class IV employees on Kadapa ZP premises.

The present practice of disbursing salaries through grants-in-aid posed hardships, he said. The demand did not entail any financial burden on the exchequer, he stated.

PR Ministerial Employees Association district secretary Nagabhushanam, MPDOs Association district president C. Venkatesh, CITU district president A. Raghunatha Reddy, Class IV Employees Association president Mahankalaiah, Secretary Subbarayudu, VDOs Association district president Sivarami Reddy and others took part.
