Vattakottai to be given a facelift

Nagercoil: The Government has allotted Rs.10 lakh to give a facelift to Vattakottai an 18th century granite fort in Kanyakumari district after it was affected by tsunami.

Vattakottai, a Tamil name for fort is also called as circular fort as its granite segments are placed in a circular shape. It is 6 km away from Kanyakumari on Kanyakumari-Madurai National Highway - 7.

The money had already been allotted to provide infrastructure. According to Archaeological Survey of India sources, the Government allotted Rs.55 lakh for development tourists spots, including Kanyakumari, Vattakottai, Sothavilai beach, Muttom and Thikkurichi under tsunami relief fund.
