U.P. on top of hit list

VARANASI, DEC. 22. Uttar Pradesh is on top of the hit list of terrorists and the State Government has taken all necessary measures to foil any attack, the U.P. Director General of Police, Mr. R. K. Pandit, said here today. Security has been beefed up in Aligarh, Mau, Azamgarh, Agra, Moradabad and Rampur districts in the aftermath of attack on Parliament House, he told reporters here. Stating U. P. is on top of the hit list of various terrorist outfits, the DGP said the country needed a POTO-type law to combat terrorism. To a question on militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad's threats to carry attacks, he said the State Government is prepared to meet any eventuality.

He said a special drive had been launched in the State from December 18 to nab criminals and anti-socials.
