Unruly crowds

Sir, — The unruly behaviour of the crowd that resulted in the disruption of cricket matches between India and the West Indies thrice speaks of our unsporting attitude and shatters our image in front of the global audience.

Crowd misbehaviour has become a regular phenomenon. The reason, presumably, is the lack of fear and confidence that they cannot be traced by the authorities. It could be observed on television that policemen on duty at the Rajkot stadium were more interested in watching the match than keeping surveillance on the spectators. Such casualness on the their part is annoying. The police force deployed in the stadium must be more active and vigilant. The authorities must take some stern action to deal with such incidents.
