Tributes paid to Amirthalingam

Pondicherry Nov. 7. The Education Minister, K. Lakshminarayanan today paid tributes to the later Sri Lankan Tamil leader, A. Amirthalingam on the occasion of his 75th birth anniversary (platinum jubilee) organised by the Amirthalingam Memorial Foundation here today.

Releasing a souvenir, `Varalatrin Manidhan` (a Personality of History) and also an album containing pictures of various historic events in the life of the late leader, the Minister said Amirthalingam was totally devoted to the path of ahimisa and non violence. He reposed full faith in India and developed closest and most cordial relations with the country as he identified himself with the cardinal principle of non violence, a hallmark of India`s freedom movement. Mr. Lakshminarayanan recalled the dedicated services of Amirthalingam for the cause of the Tamils and their rights and culture in the Island Republic.

Rev Fr.A.S.Anthonisamy president of the Pondicherry based Universal Ethics Centre presided.

Former member of the Overseas French citizens in Conseil Superieur in France Dubeille Cojande received the first copy of the souvenir.
