Toddler dies of burns

HYDERABAD, DEC. 30.

A four-year old boy, Mohd. Sohail, succumbed to burns on Sunday following his mother, Fatima Begum's attempt to immolate herself along with her son on Saturday night.

Fatima suffered 90 per cent burns and is struggling for life in the Osmania General Hospital.

According to the Reinbazar police, a resident of Yakutpura, Fatima doused herself and her son, Sohail, in kerosene and set fire herself as she was mentally upset. She was married to Mohd. Qusro two years ago and recently developed differences with him over family matters. The case is under investigation.

Electrician found dead

An electrician of AP Transco, Aneesh Kumar Bitla (25), was found dead on Sunday in roadside bushes near the railway track in Sultan Shahi.

The body bore knife injuries on the head and shoulders. A few empty arrack packets were found lying beside the railway track. The Kachiguda railway police said that the victim was a resident of Valmikinagar.

Aneesh's family members told the police that he left the house on Saturday evening.

Dacoit gang strikes again

An eight-member dacoit gang once again struck in the Hayathnagar mandal of Ranga Reddy district on Saturday midnight and took away gold ornaments and cash worth Rs. 25,000 from a resident of Sainagar colony, M. Kartikeya Babu.

The Hayathnagar police are suspecting that it could be the same gang which attacked four houses in Uppariguda village on Friday night.

The gang members possessed knives, sticks and one revolver. They first came to the house of V. Sanjeeva Reddy in Munganoor village around 2 a.m. on Saturday night. However, they fled the place having noticed that the neighbours had called up the police.

Later, they attacked the house of Kartikeya Babu and threatened his family members that they would kill them and blast the house if the police was called in.
