Thiruverkadu murder case solved

Chennai March 30. The Chengai East Police today said they had solved the mystery behind the murder of a youth in Thiruverkadu.

The body of Bhaskar was recovered by the Thiruverkadu police from Karumariamman Nagar in Ayanambakkam last month following which they conducted investigations and picked up three persons on suspicion.

While two of them were identified as Sasikumar and Vidyadharan, both Sri Lankan Tamils residing at Velappan Chavadi, the other person was Senthil Kumar of Nesapakkam, a police press release said.

On interrogation, they said Bhaskar was a henchman of a gangster and had demanded money from Sasikumar and threatened him of dire consequences if he did not pay. Following this, Sasikumar and the group killed him last month. Two other accused in the case were still at large, the release added.

Youth held

The Chengai East Police on Thursday arrested a youth in connection with robbery of a house in Korattur.

The accused, identified as Ezhumalai (20), was arrested at Chengam Taluk of Thiruvannamalai district. He allegedly entered a house on North Avenue, Korattur, around noon and gagged the inmate, Rama Santhanam. He also stabbed her before decamping with 10 sovereigns gold ornaments.
