They celebrate with a message

TIRUCHI: Cerebral palsy did not deter them in celebrating the Christmas. The children of the Spastic Society of Tiruchi exhibited their talents by giving a series of performances at a function held here recently. Children from the Society's centres in different places including Thuraiyur, Manapparai, Musiri, Lalgudi presented the programme.

It all started with Eric Fernandez stealing the show during the `infant stimulation programme' in which the children narrated the history of St. Nicholas - the Santa Clause.

The children also staged a few plays with a message as in the case of `The boy who cried tiger' which emphasised the importance of honesty.

The classic story of yesteryears, `The Fairies and the Shoemaker' was yet another example. Pradeep and Shaki, playing the role of the fairies and Noorjahan, the shoemaker, enthralled the audience. Dinesh Kumar, another child, played the lead role in the popular `Pied Piper of Hamlin'.

"The programme was well designed with a team work involving the children the special teachers and the parents," says the Director of the Society, C. Shanthakumar.

The Deputy General manager of Indian Bank, Tiruchi Circle, R. Ravi, appreciated the efforts taken by the children, their parents and the teachers. A puppet show was organised to entertain the children.
