Temple consecration

KARUR: Hundreds of devotees witnessed the mahakumbhabhisekam of the Periyanayaki Sametha Sivapureeswarar Temple at Sivayam near here on Friday.

The renovation work, which went on for quite some time, was completed recently. The mahabhishekam was performed following the kumbhabhishekam.The Kulithalai MLA, A. Pappa Sundaram, Krishnarayapuram MLA, Sasikala Ravi, the Joint Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, Tiruchi Zone, T. Jayaraman, the Kulithalai RDO, S. Ganesh, the board of trustees including R. Jayabalan and others participated.

Mr. Jayaraman said consecration was performed at 19 temples including Woraiyur Vekkaliamman temple, Thuraiyur Prasanna Venkatachalapathi temple, Thirupattur Brahmapureeswarar temple, Sivayam Sivapureeswarar temple, Konnaiyur Muthumaraiamman temple and Perambur Veeramakaliamman temple.As far as the consecration of the Karur Pasupatheeswarar temple slated for April 3 was concerned, he observed that the administration wanted to ensure that the festivities passed off peacefully and that the authorities wanted to satisfy all sections of the society.

Some people had given representation seeking that the medium of consecration should be Tamil.Appropriate decision, taking into account all aspects, would be taken in due course, Mr. Jayaraman said.
