KARAIKAL:The Mahakumbabishekam of the famous Pranambikai samedha Sri Dharbaranyeswarar temple, popularly known as Lord Saneeswara Bhagawan temple at Tirunallar near here will be performed between 9.20 a.m. and 10.25 a.m. on Friday, March 24.

Devasthanam authorities told The Hindu that elaborate arrangements were being made for performing the kumbabishekam of the seven-tier Rajagopuram and 17 vimanas of other shrines of the temple that were renovated at a total cost of Rs.two crore.Seven gold plated `kalasams' were installed in the Rajagopuram.

The authorities pointed out that more than 300 Sivacharyas from various places would perform the kumbabishekam and would perform `yagasala' poojas that would commence three days before the kumbabishekam.

The Karaikal district administration is making special arrangements to enable the devotees to offer worship of all the deities immediately after the kumbabishekam is performed.

Special buses will be operated from Nagapattinam, Mayiladuturai, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur and other places.

Thousands of pilgrims and devotees are thronging the temple to worship Lord Saneeswara Bhagwan shrine after the `Sani Peyarchi' from June 27 last year when Lord Saturn transits from Mithuna Rasi to Kataka Rasi (Gemini to Cancer).
