Tata announces Indicom 10

Coimbatore: Tata Indicom, the telecom service provider, on Friday launched a new prepaid wireless desktop phone - Indicom 10 to tap the market potentials in small, semi-urban towns and rural areas. Film actress Sandhya launched the product at a function in the presence of Chief Operating Officer of Tata Indicom, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, M.A. Madhusudan, and General Manager (Marketing), Ramesh Thondapi.

This prepaid desktop Fixed Wireless Phone is available on the latest sleek and handy LG LSP 400T handset.

Commenting on the highlights of the product, Mr. Madhusudan said that this phone with a ten-digit number would weigh only 584 gm and could have 300 numbers memory in its phone book. Special value additions

The phone comes with a four hours talktime and standby time of 72 hours while taken on the move. The advantages of this product is there would be no waiting period in as many as 60 towns in the State of the total number of 201 towns where Tata Indicom has network coverage.

With regard to the network expansion, efforts are on to enhance the coverage availability in a minimum of 300 towns by the turn of this fiscal. The initial down payment would be Rs. 1,650 and could be topped with minimum denomination recharge top-up vouchers to maintain outgoing call facility. The phone provides 45 per cent savings on calls to mobiles in Tamil Nadu, 25 per cent savings on calls to intra circle calls to landline phones and another 25 per cent on STD calls.

The tariff is uniform and simple, it would be 90 paise for per minute for any calls to any phone across the State, Rs. 1.80 for STD calls, Rs. 12 for STD and SMS would be charged at 50 paise.

There would be an offer for early birds in terms of free SMS (both local and national) till March 31.
