CHENNAI: School and college students will get an opportunity to be involved closely with the Chennai Open tennis tourney through two contests being conducted by IMG, organisers of the tournament.

Mascot contest

School children can design a mascot for Chennai Open 2006 while the contest for college students will revolve around designing the complete identity for Chennai Open 2007.

The contest invites school students (standards V to X) to design a mascot for Chennai Open 2006 keeping in mind the feel and traditions of Chennai as a city. Each school can select and forward the top three designs from their institution.

Panel of judges

One entry from each school will be shortlisted for the final round, where a panel of celebrity judges will choose the winner.

The mascot design winner will be announced on December 16.

The winner will get a cash prize of Rs.10,000 and the chance to have the design incorporated into Chennai Open as the official mascot.

Identity competition

Here, college students can design the entire identity for Chennai Open 2007 — hoarding designs, poster and collateral designs, print ad designs, letterheads, visiting cards, bus shelter designs, balloon and inflatable designs.

Managements can select and forward the top five designs from their college. From this IMG will select one entry from each college for the final round. Again, a panel of celebrity judges will choose a winner.

The Chennai Open Identity contest winner will be announced on centre court at the tournament.

Cash prize

The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and the chance to have the designs utilised during Chennai Open 2007.

The last date for both contests entry is December 12.
