Swami Vivekananda Day observed

ARCOT: Lectures by scholars and devotees of the Sri Ramakrishna Mission, singing of devotional songs and a procession of the images of the saints marked the four-day 14th State Conference of the Devotees of Sri Ramakrishna, Annai Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, which concluded at the Sri Ramakrishna Mission Higher Secondary School in Arcot on Monday.

Swami Gouthamananda Maharaj, president, Sri Ramakrishna Mutt, Chennai, who presided over the Swami Vivekananda Day celebrations on Monday, said that one could get ennobled by following the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna. K. Selvam, former Director of All India Radio, said that Swami Vivekananda considered science and spirituality as the two eyes of man. Swami Vivekananda's teachings contained several messages that showed people the way to succeed in their respective fields. K. Bhakthavatsalam, secretary, YMCA Pattimanram, Chennai said that though Swami Vivekananda lived only for 40 years, his achievements were great. Swami Nithyeshananda Maharaj of the Sri Ramakrishna Students Home, Chennai said that Swami Vivekananda proved his secular credentials by preaching that religion was the manifestation of the divinity already present in man.

R. Easwarappan, president, Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Manram, Arcot, welcomed. Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna Day was observed on Saturday, Annai Sarada Devi Day on Sunday and Swami Vivekananda Day on Monday.
