Summer festival begins at Silver Beach

CUDDALORE, JULY 24. Many steps have been taken to beautify the Silver Beach here, the Cuddalore Collector, Gagandeep Singh Bedi said while inaugurating a three-day summer festival at the beach here on Friday.

He said a cement concrete path had been laid from parking lot to the waterfront, and huts had been put up for the convenience of the visitors. Benches and watchtowers too had been provided on the beach to facilitate the tourist to enjoy their stay.

Mr Bedi said boating facility had been introduced and high-mast lamps had been set up. More facilities would be created here, he said. The Collector said many pavilions had been set up to showcase the performance of various departments.

He noted that the uppanar bridge, which was in a bad shape, would be reconstructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.25 crores.
