Students stage road roko

ERODE: Students of the Government Higher Secondary School at Unjalure along with the villagers staged a road roko on Wednesday urging the Government to appoint a headmaster for the school. Traders also downed their shutters in support of the students.

The villagers said that more than 650 students were studying in the school. Some days back a teacher was shifted from the school and for the last four months the school was functioning without a headmaster. They urged the Government to appoint a headmaster immediately and elect a president for the Parents Teachers Association. Because of the road roko, vehicles from Erode to Kodumudi and vice versa were diverted via another route.

Chief Educational Officer P. Kuppusamy along with Educational Department officials and police personnel visited the area.

They assured the crowd that the headmaster would be appointed for the school and the PTA meeting would be conducted on December 7 following which they dispersed.
