Student killed as car rams transformer

A college student died on the spot and five others were injured when the car in which they were travelling rammed a roadside transformer on Wednesday night.

According to the traffic police, Vigneswaran, 21, a first year Visual Communication student and his friends were returning home from Mamallapuram. While the car was nearing Kanathur, Vigneswaran reportedly swerved the car to his left to avoid hitting a motorcyclist. In the melee, the car hit a transformer on the roadside.

Vigneswaran died on the spot.
