Stolen property recovered, one held

Thanjavur: Police have arrested Ganesan alias Sekar last night and recovered stolen property worth Rs.7 lakh from him.

Panneerselvam of Indira Nagar, whose chain was snatched by a person on Sunday when he was walking near Ramanathan Hospital junction, lodged a complaint with the police.

Police formed a team and launched a manhunt to trace the culprits.

When the team members, Bhgyamuthu, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Thanjavur town, Srinivasan, DSP-training and Venkatesan, Inspector of Police, were checking vehicles, they intercepted Ganesan, who was coming in a moped, and on suspicion interrogated him.

Later they recovered the chain of Panneerselvam, cellular phones, watches, and cash - all worth Rs.7 lakh from Ganesan alias Sekar, son of Subramanian and a resident of Mappadugai near Mayiladuthurai in Nagapattinam district.

He was remanded to custody.
