SSLC toppers spell out their priorities

PONDICHEERRY: What to do in future was a question that every student had in mind after the results of the Matriculation and SSLC examinations were announced.

Subasribala Sridhar of Subramania Bharathiar Government Girls High School and Indumathi of Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School shared the second rank.

Sriram, who shared the first rank with a student of Kottucherry in Karaikal, said that he wanted to study aeronautical engineering in IIT and had been attending coaching classes for the last two years.

``I didn't expect that I would come State first, but did expect good marks'', he added.

Subasribala, who came first among all the government schools in Pondicherry, says that she wants to study MBBS and then become an IAS officer!

``I want to finish both before I become 30 years old. My sister is presently attending her MBBS coaching and I am also catching up.''

Two students each shared all the first three ranks in the SSLC at the State-level and it was a tight finish.

The first rank was shared by two students — V. Priyadarshini of the government-aided Servait English High School of Kottucherry in Karaikal and G. Sriram of Vivekananda Higher Secondary School, Pondicherry, both of whom scored 487 out of 500 marks.

The second rank holder scored 486 marks, a mere one mark behind the first. The third rank went to A.L. Mohammed Rizhwan of Seventh Day Adventist Higher Secondary School and V. Muthuvel of Jawahar English High School, Koodapakkam, both of whom scored 485 marks.

Matriculation Results

The first rank went to K.R. Sree Krishna Vaishanavy of Sri Sankara Vidhyala Matriculation Higher Secondary School, ECR Road, who scored 1048/1100 marks.

The second rank to K.M. Krishna of St. Patrick Matriculation Higher Secondary School with 1045/1100 marks and A. Deepak of Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary School came third with 1044/1100 marks.

Though Sree Krishna Vaishanavy of Sri Sankara Vidhyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School was not available for reaction, the school principal N. Mahalakshmi said that she was a very sincere and studious girl. ``She would never miss classes and was very quite and calm in class''. She scored 1048/1100 with 197 in Sanskrit, 172 in English, 198 in Mathematics, 294 in Science and 187 in social science.

V. Priyadarshini who shared the first rank had scored 96 marks out of 100 in Tamil, 95 in English, 96 in Science and centum in mathematics and social sciences.

" I want to become a doctor"

Priyadarshini said that she owed her achievement to her parents — Vedarathinam and Nagammal (both teachers) and also the encouragement by the teachers of her school. ``I want to become a doctor or a very good software engineer'', she said.

Vanathi of the same school had secured 481 marks and secured the second rank in Karaikal district followed by Geethamalini of Nirmalarani Girls High School scored 479 marks and got the third rank.

According to educational authorities, Karaikal district had achieved 71 per cent pass.
