Spreading the message of Mahatma

The Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai has lined up a series of programmes, starting from October 1, to take the Mahatma's message to the masses.

The events have been so designed as to attract the attention of the new generation, according to S. Pandian, secretary of the museum.

The 136th Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations will begin on the museum premises with a `patti mandram' on October 1.

The topics of all `patti mandrams' reflect the conflicts in society at several levels and the Gandhian solutions available for them.

A round-the-clock `spinning yagna' will be performed at the Gandhi Museum on October 2, in which the Mahatma's followers will take part.

The speakers listed for the celebrations include Ilasai Sundaram, Thengachchi G. Swaminathan, G. Gnanasambandan, G. Sathiyaseelan, A, Arivoli, Tamizharuvi Manian, Solomon Pappiah, Pon. Chandrasekar, Nellai Kannan, V, Irai Anbu and Ponnambala Desigar of Kundrakudi Mutt.
