Social organisations take lead in e-waste disposal

Olirum Erodu Foundation and CII Young Indians have together started a month-long e-waste collection camp in the district for safe disposal of harmful materials and safeguard people from toxic effects.

District Collector S. Prabakar launched the camp last week at Prochamps Car Parking area located near Johnson MRI Scan along Perundurai Road.

According to M. Chinnasamy, Chairman, Olirum Erodu Foundation, waste electrical and electronic items will be collected till July 25.

The Foundation has appealed to the public to deposit discarded computers and parts, telephone and mobile phone and parts, television sets, audio system parts, air conditioners, electronic toys, compact disks, batteries, UPS system parts, television monitors, and other waste materials at the camp location for safe disposal. Such wastes will, in turn, be handed over to government-approved entities for safe disposal as per established procedures. Foundation could be contacted over phone: 09786953395
