Kauvery Hospital issued a press release on Thursday evening, saying there was a “slight decline” in the health of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi due to age-related ailments. He was being treated for fever due to a urinary tract infection and is being administered antibiotics.

Mr. Karunanidhi is being monitored and treated round the clock by a team of medical and nursing professionals, “who are providing hospital-level care at his home,” the bulletin, by hospital executive director Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, said.

Given his condition, the team of doctors attending to him has recommended restriction on visitors.
