THANJAVUR: The Collector, M. Veera Shanmugha Moni, said that fibre glass doors made by women self-help groups (SHGs) in the district will be used for group houses constructed under the Indra Awaz Yojana and for sanitary complexes in coastal villages.

He announced this at the valedictory of training in production of fibre glass doors for members of women SHGs. The programme was organised closely on the heels of training given to them for producing fibre glass sanitary materials.

At present, two SHGs, Venmabi of Neelagirivattam panchayat and Kalpana Chawla of Budalur panchayat union, are involved in the production of fibre glass sanitary materials.

The Collector saw the fibre glass doors produced by the SHG members. He instructed the Project officer, District Rural Development Agency, P. Rajendran, to use the doors for group houses and sanitary complexes. The DRDA organised the training under the Swarna Jayanthi Grameen Swarajkar Yojana.
