Seminar on industrial harmony held in Karaikal

PONDICHERRY, JAN.31. The Health and Labour Minister, E. Valsaraj, who inaugurated a one day seminar on Industrial Harmony in Karaikal today said, Pondicherry offered greater scope for industrial development.

He said quick processing of applications from prospective entrepreneurs and also congenial climate prevailing in the Union Territory had been responsible for the setting up of industries by private entrepreneurs. He said the policy of the administration was to promote industries so that more job opportunities could be created.

Dheva Needhi Dhas, Labour Commissioner of Pondicherry, was also present. Among those who spoke included the Regional Executive Officer, B. R. Babu and also representatives of Industries forum of Karaikal region.

Earlier, the Health Minister, inaugurated a renovated sub-centre of the Health Department at Akkaravattam in T. R. Pattinam block. He referred to the health delivery system and also facilities available in government hospitals. Installation of MRI facility in Pondicherry was a unique achievement as government hospitals had such facility very rarely.

The Director of Health and Family Welfare Services, D. Thamma Rao, the Deputy Director of Immunisation wing in Karaikal, G.Subbiah and the Regional Executive officer, B.R. Babu were among those who spoke. Mr. Valsaraj also inaugurated the vocational guidance scheme for Plus Two students. P. R. Nalamaharajan, MLA, also spoke.
