Second anniversary of tsunami to be observed in Nagapattinam

Lt.Governor to hand over houses to tsunami-affected in Karaikal

Nagapattinam: The second anniversary of tsunami disaster will be observed in Nagapattinam on Tuesday.

The Minister for Dairy Development, U.Mathivanan, along with the Collector, Tenkasi S.Jawahar, the Nagapattinam MP, A.K.S.Vijayan, and MLAs will pay homage to those killed in the tsunami attack two years ago on December 26.

The Minister and others will place wreaths at the tsunami memorial at the Collectorate at 9.17 a.m. and then proceed to various places, including children's park at New Beach, Keechankuppam and Velankanni and place wreaths and pay homage at the memorials.

The Chamber of Commerce has organised a function to establish a park near old bus stand here in memory of tsunami victims.


The Lt.Governor of Pondicherry, Mukul Miti, will visit Karaikal in the Union Territory of Puducherry on Tuesday to pay homage to the tsunami victims.

The Lt.Governor will also hand over nearly 200 permanent houses to the affected families.

The Collector, Sudhir Kumar, MLAs and officials are expected to participate in the second anniversary of the tsunami attack to be observed here on Tuesday.
