Search for man in harassment case

TUTICORIN, FEB. 26 . The police have launched a hunt for the manager of a cooperative store here who allegedly harassed a woman sub-ordinate.

The police said K. Vellaiyammal (33), an assistant in the cooperative store at Chidambaranagar here, had filed a case in the Madras High Court, seeking direction to the officials concerned to remove the manager, A. Mohan (47), as "he was unqualified for the job" and prayed to appoint her in that place. In this background, Mr. Mohan allegedly harassed Ms. Vellaiyammal on January 13 this year and she lodged a complaint with the Superintendent of Police then. On his direction, the Tuticorin south police brokered a "peaceful settlement" between the two.

However, unsatisfied with this, Ms. Vellaiyammal filed a petition in the Judicial Magistrate court here, which directed the All Women Police Station to file a case.

Based on the complaint from Ms. Vellaiyammal, the police are looking for Mr. Mohan.
