Scribe produced before magistrate

ERODE, DEC. 27. After seven days of police custody, Mr. Sivasubramaniam, reporter, `Nakheeran', was produced before Mr. N. Krishnan, Judicial Magistrate, Bhavani today. The scribe was arrested for his alleged involvement in the Vellitiruppur police station looting incident by forest brigand Veerappan.

He was taken from Mysore prison to Bhavani on December 21 and the magistrate permitted the police to enquire him for seven days. He was taken to Thalawady, Bhavanisagar and STF camps by the police and interrogated.

The magistrate questioned him about the behaviour of the police with him during custody. The journalist said due to intense questioning, not related with the Vellitiruppur police station attack, he was mentally worried and depressed.

The magistrate ordered the police to produce him on January 10 and permitted the scribe to meet his wife, who was waiting outside the court. Then Mr. Sivasubramaniam was taken to the Mysore Central prison with police escort.
