Science talent search examination held

CHENNAI: As part of its silver jubilee celebration, St. John's English School and Junior College organised a city-level science talent search examination on Saturday.

Students of IV to IX were eligible to write the examination, said R. Kishore Kumar, correspondent and school convenor.

The students had been provided with the syllabus.

Students studying under any board in the city were allowed to take the examination, he said.

More than the students the parents showed a keen interest in sending their wards for the exam, Dr. Kishore Kumar said.

Five thousand students from more than 112 city schools participated.

The awards

All participants will get certificates. Those who score above 90 marks will get a silver medal and those who secure 100 will get a gold medal.

The school that sends more than 100 candidates will be awarded the Sir C.V. Raman shield.

The school that sends the maximum number of participants will be awarded the Dr. Abdul Kalam shield, Dr. Kishore Kumar said.

The results of the examination will be announced on March 22 and the prize distribution would be held on April 7.
