ERODE: The municipal administration has sent a proposal to the Government on supply of water daily to the residents at a cost of Rs. 5.5 crores, Municipal Engineer Dheenadhayalan said on Friday.

He was replying to the queries of some councillors at the municipal council meeting.

Councillors Geetha (DMK), Jagadambal and Baby (AIADMK) complained that in some streets in their wards, residents were not getting adequate water.

They appealed to the municipal administration to streamline the supply.

The Municipal Engineer said that at present water was supplied on alternate days and per head 90 litres of water was given.

If the Government approved the new scheme, the residents would get water daily and the quantity would also be increased.

Congress councillor B. Venkatachalam complained that excess price was collected for vehicles at the Central Bus Stand cycle stand, as against the amount fixed by the municipality.

Chairman Subramanian said that if the contractor was found guilty, his lease would be cancelled.
