Road tax collection from March 26

CUDDALORE, MARCH 11. The Regional Transport Officer, Sampath Kumar, has said that the road tax and green tax for the year 2005-06 for non-transport vehicles such as two-wheelers and cars would be collected from March 26 to April 10.

In a statement here, Mr. Kumar said that the tax could be paid at the office of the RTO, Cuddalore, and the offices of the Motor Vehicle Inspectors at Neyveli and Chidambaram; the Cuddalore sub-treasury; the Indian Bank branches at Panruti and Chidambaram; and the Indian Overseas Bank branches at Cuddalore O.T., Manjakuppam and Neyveli.

The payment could be made on all the working days (excluding Sundays and public holidays) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The owners of vehicles of 15-year-and-above vintage (from the date of registration) should pay the green tax at the rate of Rs.500 for two-wheelers and Rs.1,000 for cars.

At the time of paying the tax,The vehicle-owners should also produce the registration certificate, the insurance certificate and the emission exhaust fume test certificate.
