Revival of Chittoor dairy sought

Staff Reporter

TIRUPATI: Cattle-rearers of the district, who have launched an agitation seeking remunerative price for milk and the reopening of the Chittoor Cooperative Dairy, appealed to the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who will be arriving here on a two-day visit to look into their demands.

The cattle-rearers, under the banner of the Federation of Farmers Association (FFA), had earlier expressed concern at the `indifferent' attitude of all political parties towards their demands. In fact, their demand for affecting a hike in the price of milk, which had remained unaltered for the last ten years, had no takers among political parties. In a joint appeal, the honorary president of the District Milk Producers' Union, J.K. Santharam Pawar, and others urged Dr. Reddy to get the district released from the clutches "private dairy cartel".
