Review meeting

PERAMBALUR, MARCH 11. As many as 9,305 persons have undergone cataract surgeries in Perambalur district so far during the current financial year as against the target of 10,000, the Collector, D. Vivekanandan, said. Presiding over a meeting to review the works being executed through the District Blindness Control Society here today, he said as many as 3,013 had undergone surgery at the Government Eye Hospital here and 10 Primary Health Centres while 6,292 had undergone surgery at three private hospitals.

Several free eye camps had been conducted in schools. About 71,400 pupils had been screened of whom about 3,000 were undergoing treatment. Free spectacles had been distributed to 1,082, he said.
