`Release attached TANSI property'

CHENNAI OCT. 31. N. Sasikalaa has petitioned the Court of Small Causes here seeking release of attached TANSI property, purchased by her along with the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa.

As she sought to lift the attachment only to facilitate its return to the TANSI Corporation, and not to sell or transfer it to a third party, it would not affect the case in any manner, the Chief Judge of the Court of Small Causes, S.R. Singaravelan was informed. (She has already filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking leave to surrender the property to its original owner, TANSI. The Supreme Court, which has reserved its orders on the `TANSI land deal appeals', has also been apprised of the petition).

When the Special Public Prosecutor did not object to the petition, the Chief Judge told the SPP that the `bald no-objection would give room for presumptions'.

He then asked the SPP to list reasons for expressing no-objection to the petition.

Accordingly, a counter-affidavit was filed in the afternoon. The matter is coming up again tomorrow.
