Relay fast concludes

TUTICORIN, MARCH 17. The three-day relay fast by United Forum of BSNL executives concluded here today. The fast was organised in front of the BSNL General Manager's office to press their multi-point demands.

The demands include time-bound promotion for telecom officers of all ranks, besides the introduction of industrial dearness allowance for the officers with effect from Oct 1, 2000.

The agitators urged the Government not to go ahead with the move to recruit management trainees in the additional divisional engineer cadres.

The entire set of junior telecom officers as well as sub-divisional engineers now in the service should be promoted to the next rank.

Altogether 110 persons took part in the agitation.
