Quiz contest for medical students

Winning team will get a cash prize of Rs. 10,000

CHENNAI: Nichi-In Centre for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM), Chennai, is organising a State-level quiz competition in commemoration of its first anniversary on October 17.

The objectives of the quiz competition are to motivate the biotech, biology and medical students by exposing them to the potential of this field, and evaluate and develop the skills and capabilities of the young and budding scientists. Undergraduate and postgraduate students of medical, biology and biotechnology courses enrolled in government and private institutes in Tamilnadu and Pondicherry are eligible to participate.

A preliminary round comprising a written test will be conducted to choose the best six teams that will feature in the final round which will involve general, rapid fire and visual rounds. The winning team will get a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and the institute it represents will be awarded the "Fujio Cup". The runner-up will get Rs. 5000 cash prize. These two teams will be eligible for a stem cell / cell therapy related project or training for one month at NCRM in which apart from their project costs, round trip travel between their institute and NCRM will be borne by NCRM.

The Quiz competition will be followed by a symposium on regenerative medicine and the anniversary function in which the Consul General of Japan at Yoshiaki Kodaki will give away the prizes.
