Puthiya Thamizhagam to identify "winnable Assembly constituencies"

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: : Puthiya Thamizhagam (PT) is to start its preparations for the next Assembly elections in the State. To begin with, the party will identify winnable constituencies and initiate the election work in those constituencies from now onwards.

Talking to newsmen after the general council meeting here on Tuesday, its president, K. Krishnasamy, said while the party was not averse to having an alliance with other parties, it would not crave for it.

The party's foremost aim, he said, was to unite the "suppressed people," who had been "treated" by national and regional parties as a vote bank.

The party wanted to make the people a strong political force in the State.

Dr. Krishnasamy said it was unfortunate that the party, which had been working for the uplift of the suppressed, was being branded as "casteist" by some vested interests. Party cadres, he said, would dispel such "myth" by organising meetings and rallies throughout the State to make people aware of policies and principles of the party.
