On the IIT-Madras campus on Monday evening, a group of people disrupted activist Teesta Setalvad’s lecture on human rights and communal violence.

Students said the group of around 50 persons raised slogans against the activist for her stand on minority rights and questioned the need for talking about communal violence instead of development..

As part of a lecture series organised by IIT-M students, Ms. Setalvad had delivered her lecture and was taking questions when the protesters interrupted. The IIT-M administration intervened and removed the group from the hall.
