Private candidates can apply for higher secondary exams

CHENNAI: The Directorate of Government Examinations has invited applications for the higher secondary public examination to be held in March 2006 from candidates who have already appeared and failed in the examination and want to reappear in the failed subjects and from those who have passed the standard X public examination or equivalent examination and completed 16.5 years of age on or before May 1, 2006, provided there is a gap of two years from the date of passing the standard X examination.

All private candidates (excepting those residing in Chennai City) should remit the examination fees (Rs. 50 per subject plus Rs. 35 other charges for regular private candidates and Rs. 150 plus Rs. 35 for direct private candidates) only by chelan in Government treasuries. Candidates in Chennai may remit the examination fees through demand draft or banker's cheque of any nationalised bank drawn in favour of "Director, Government Examinations, Chennai -6."

Application forms can be had from December 5 to 15 in person on any working day from the directorate of Government examinations, Chennai - 6, and in the offices of Chief Educational Officer, District Educational Officer, Joint Director (Education), Pondicherry, and Regional Deputy Director of Government Examination in Madurai, Tiruchi Tirunelveli, Cuddalore, and Vellore.

Last date for the receipt of completed application is December 16 (Friday), according to an official release.
