PMC protests removal of scaffolding

PONDICHERRY: A group of activists of the Puduchery Munnetra Congress (PMC) headed by its vice president P. Iyyanarappan today staged a road roko on S V Patel Salai, here, on Wednesday to mark the party's protest against the alleged attempt of PWD staff to remove the scaffolding erected by the party for display of banners highlighting the celebration of the birth anniversary of Kamaraj on July 15.

With the news of the attempt of the staff of PWD to remove the scaffolding on the ground that no permission had been opened from the authorities by the organisers of the function to erect the scaffolds and barricades, partymen gathered all of a sudden on the thoroughfare raising slogans and blocking traffic for some time.

Police arrived on the spot to restore normality.
