Plea to reopen Ibrahim Park

TIRUCHI, AUG. 1. The Indian Union Muslim League has urged the Corporation to take steps to reopen Ibrahim Park on West Boulevard Road, which had remained closed for several years.

A resolution adopted at the executive committee meeting of the urban district unit of the party held here on Friday with its president, G.M. Hashim, in the chair, threatened to organise an agitation if its demand was not conceded.

Another resolution said residents of places including Tennur Azhwar Thoppu, Hidayathnagar, Qaidemillath Nagar, Sinnasamy Nagar and Annanagar did not have proper bus facilities to the Central Bus Stand and Chathiram Bus Stand. It said that that the district administration should introduce mini bus services to these areas. Yet another resolution thanked the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, for giving representation to the party in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Cabinet and inducting the party's all India General Secretary, E. Ahamed, as the Union Minister of State for External Affairs.
