Panic has gripped TDP leadership: YSR

HYDERABAD, MARCH 3. The senior Congress leader, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, is positive that the efforts of the Telugu Desam Party leadership to convert the Congress-TRS tie-up in its favour will fail.

Addressing presspersons here today, Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy said panic had gripped the TDP leadership, especially its president, N. Chandrababu Naidu. The daunting task faced by the ruling party was provoking its leaders to seek comfort in irrational logic, he felt.

Dr. Reddy was confident that there would be no negative trends because of the arrangement and the repercussions would be very serious for the ruling TDP-BJP combine in the State. Seeing no hurdles in sorting out the differences with the alliance partners over seat-sharing, he said the Congress was in a resurgent mood and the response of the people to its meetings was overwhelming. On the claim of TRS leaders that the All-India Congress Committee had agreed to its demand of accepting the first States Reorganisation Committee report, he said he was not aware of the development. The Congress recognised the ``Telangana sentiment'' and was prepared to render justice to the region in an appropriate manner, he said adding that all backward regions needed to be developed.
