Outside prescription

Sir, — The triumphant declaration of Jaswant Singh that the Government would not accept prescriptions by foreign countries on internal affairs is indicative of an inability to take criticism in the right spirit because of the guilt complex.

Apart from the fact that no country is an island in the present international context of interdependence, human suffering in any place brought about through hatred and violence in which one community is sought to be exterminated surely cannot be termed an internal matter.

The Government has persistently and deliberately ignored the prescription from within — to sack the Modi Government, which has been primarily responsible for the tragedy in Gujarat and to take strong remedial measures. Now, it resents prescription from outside.
