New sewing machine introduced

TIRUPUR: The Japanese industrial sewing machine major Juki has introduced its latest version semi-dry-head MO-6700D series at the ongoing Knit-Tex 2006 trade fair here.


According to Matsuda Susumu, president of Juki Singapore Limited, the sophisticated machine will help exporters increase productivity and eliminate oil stains on garments. The machine costs approximately $ 1,050.

Tapping the ongoing expansion and upcoming high-tech weaving parks in Palladam, Erode, Kumarapalayam, Madurai and other places the company has strengthened its presence in Tirupur.

Increase in staff strength

"With the opening up of quota-free textile regime, Tirupur is emerging as knitwear capital of India. To provide technical training to the workforce in using our latest machinery, we have increased our staff strength,'' says Hari Kumar, Director of Juki Machinery (India) Limited.

Besides selling sewing machines, it has special arrangements with other manufacturers in Singapore to supply machinery from cutting to finishing in a package.In Tirupur the company targets a fourfold increase in sales this year, Mr. Kumar said.
