Says Karunanidhi will lose moral right to rule if he fails to raise water level

MADURAI: The Mullaperiyar Rights Retrieval Committee has accused the Tamil Nadu Government of making no attempts to raise the water level in the Periyar dam. Tamilar Desiya Iyakkam leader and Committee coordinator P. Nedumaran criticised parties for showing more interest in their own welfare. "They fight more on non-issues than on real issues," he told reporters here on Wednesday. Criticising Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for having "delayed the talks", Mr. Nedumaran said he should not see the proposed December 4 blockade of all roads to Kerala as a move against him.

"It is to strengthen his hands while negotiating with his Kerala counterpart." The Chief Minister should make full use of the protest to drive home the point that the State was agitated over the issue.
