National oral health survey launched

Pondicherry Nov. 24. A national oral health survey and flouride mapping programme which forms part of the national oral health policy of the Union Health Ministry was launched in Pondicherry today .

The Chief Secretary, R. Padmanabhan, flagged off the drive organised by the Department of Community Dentistry in the Pondicherry government administered Mahatma Gandhi Dental College and Hospital.

A communication from K. Viswanathan, Registrar of the College said a six- member team of doctors headed by the Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Community Dentistry, C. G. Ajith Krishnan, would meet people in urban and rural areas of Pondicherry region and collect data on oral health status.

Sample of drinking water would also be collected to estimate flouride levels.
